Ok, I have heard about nil happening for New Years this year...however...Dave Helfry, aka Baron Von Goolo of Frighttown fame has decided to extend your Halloween merriment with New Years Evil. The event is at the Bossanova which not only has amazing new wood floors but a redone stage and new sound system as well!

It might not seem like it but Halloween really is right around the corner, especially for the freaks and fiends at FRIGHTTOWN, Portland's biggest and scariest haunted attraction for four years running! The 1031 Community Theatre is revving up for another successful season of FRIGHTTOWN beneath the Memorial Coliseum and we would love all you Halloween and horror fans to join us! If you're an artist of any discipline, or if you just love acting or stagecraft or just scaring the beejeebus out of people, we'd love for you to join our merry band of monsters & monster makers as we entertain and terrify thousands of people this year.

Artistic skill and acting experience is a plus but not mandatory - anyone over the age of 18 is invited to join us. (Or 16, with a signed parental consent form.) We start setting up in just a few weeks and perform 20 nights in October, including the Mexican Day of the Dead on November 1. Whether you're involved every day or just one day, behind the scenes or in people's faces, is totally up to you.

For more info, send us an email to info@frighttown.com or sign up at frighttown.com by clicking on BE A MONSTER.

Happy Halloween!

Discordian Cyberspace Masquerade [19 May 2008|02:23pm]

I know this might not be entirely on-topic. But...

So I got this e-mail about something cool going on in Discordia. I think it's such a great idea that I'm taking it upon myself to tell LJ about it.

Hail Yes

I hadn't even realized it was Discordia's 50th (or 49th) anniversary. This is cool 'cause we get to celebrate the 50 year mark for two years in a row. It's our Golden Apple anniversary. =)

I love the idea of an online party which brings together Discordians from all sections of the web. It's also cool that it's anonymous. It'll make communicaiton really interesting. I created this journal so that nobody suspects my true identity. :-)

Anyway, there's not a lot of time until the party starts, so I'm trying to pass the invite around as quickly as possible. If you have any ideas for where else we should advertise, please post! Or optimally, you should go there and get some buzz going.

I'll see you guys at the party! Hail Eris!

If you're going to NYC this weekend, bring a pillow [19 Mar 2008|08:00pm]

"THE PLAN: Meet up this Saturday, March 22 (wear a Neo-Futurist T-Shirt if you have one, and bring a soft pillow) at the cube in astor place at 2:30. We'll march over as a Non-Illusory Pillow Fighting Machine to union square. Pillow Fight starts at 3 there.

This is part of World Pillow Fight Day.

We don't know if there are winners, but either way, let's win this thing!"

Who the hell are the Neo-Futurists? They put on Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind.

Operation Chanology [19 Mar 2008|11:20am]

molly_mllns

From images like this I followed a trail of links to pages like Operation Clambake, and from there to the group Anonymous... on March 17th, only two days after their March 15th protests. Curses, Molly missed out on all the fun.

Not like I'm exactly the best informed gal on all this Scientology stuff. Sure, they bought out an organization dedicated to exposing cults and staffed it with their own members, and their founder seems to have spent a lot of time at sea avoiding the IRS and threatening the local coastlines with conquest... but I ain't well informed enough yet to pass judgment.

Anonymous' next move seems to be scheduled for April 18th (or is it the 12th?), but a razorgirl like me is finding their website damn confusing. Strangely enough, there don't seem to be any protests in Washington, DC yet... which would be the easiest for me to get to and check the madness out.

Any leads anyone knows about? Any questions? Discuss.

Zombie Alert! (Please Forward) [21 Nov 2007|12:23pm]

denzoner

Alert! Zombie Infestation Imminent!

There are new reports of a Zombie infestation & break-out happening this Friday in Los Angeles. Using techniques perfected by San Francisco's Professor Grenzfineski, we are able to detect a brewing influx of Zombie activity. A counter-measure was performed recently in the bay area with the use of a homing beacon. We will attempt to apply the same techniques at several locations during the day --- Friday, Nov 23rd, 2007. The beacon should draw in any mobs of zombies, where they can be controlled by professional Zombie handlers.

  • 1:00PM Pan Pacific Park near 3rd & Gardner, across from the 7-11 - Near the Grove.
  • 2:30PM (tba) - Near the Beverly Center.
  • 3:30PM Mann Chinese Theater - Near the Hollywood & Highlands.
